1: 4135 steel introduction

     4135 has high static strength, impact toughness and high fatigue limit, hardenability is higher than 40Cr. High creep strength and rupture strength at high temperature, long term working temperature up to 500ºC, medium ductility and poor weldability at cold deformation.

     The mechanical properties mainly include tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, area or reduction, hardness, impact value, non-metalic inclusion etc. Different heat treatment, the mechanical properties will be different, such as normalized, tempered, QT. Application  4135 is used as an important structural member for working under high loads. Such as transmission parts of vehicle and engine, rotor of steam turbine generator, main shaft, heavy load transmission shaft and large-section parts.

6. Heat Treatment

      Annealing :  Slowly heated to 850 ºC and allow enough times, let the steel to be thoroughly heated, Then cool slowly in the furnace to 480 ºC follow by air cool. The 4135 alloy steel will get MAX 250 HB.

      Quenched 850ºC, oil cooled. 

      Tempering 550ºC, water cooled, oil cooled.

 

7: Delivery condition
     For hot forged  bar, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed/QT, rough turned/Black surface.
     For hot rolled bar, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed/QT, Black surface.
     For hot forged block, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed/QT, milled surface/Black surface
     For hot rolled plate, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed/QT, black surface.
     For cold drawn bar, usually the delivery condition is cold drawn, annealed/QT, peeled/black surface
