INDICATIONS
It is mainly used for allergic and autoimmune inflammatory diseases. It is mostly used for connective tissue diseases, active rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus erythematosus, severe bronchial asthma, severe dermatitis, ulcerative colitis, acute leukemia, etc. It is also used for the comprehensive treatment of certain severe infections and poisoning and malignant lymphoma.
Adverse reactions
Glucocorticoids have no significant adverse reactions when applied in physiological dose replacement therapy. Adverse reactions mostly occur when applied in pharmacological doses and are closely related to the course of treatment, dose, type of medication, usage and route of administration. Common adverse reactions include the following categories.
1. Long-term use can cause the following side effects: medical Cushing's syndrome face and posture, weight gain, swelling of the lower extremities, purple lines, easy bleeding tendency, poor wound healing, acne, menstrual disorders, ischemic necrosis of the humerus or femoral head, osteoporosis and fractures (including vertebral compression fractures, pathological fractures of long bones), muscle weakness, myasthenia gravis, hypokalemia syndrome, gastrointestinal irritation (nausea, vomiting), pancreatitis, peptic ulcer or perforation, growth inhibition in children, glaucoma, cataract, benign intracranial pressure elevation syndrome, hypoglycemia and exacerbation of diabetes mellitus.
2. Patients may develop psychiatric symptoms: euphoria, agitation, delirium, restlessness, disorientation, or disinhibition. Psychiatric symptoms are likely to occur in people with chronic wasting disease and those who have had previous psychiatric disorders.
3. Co-infection is the main adverse effect of adrenocorticotropic hormone. Fungal, tuberculosis, staphylococcus, Aspergillus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and various herpes viruses are the main ones.
 4. Glucocorticoid withdrawal syndrome. Sometimes patients develop dizziness, fainting tendency, abdominal pain or back pain, low fever, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, muscle or joint pain, headache, weakness, and weakness after stopping the drug. If hyperalgesia and rekindling of the original disease can be excluded after careful examination, the syndrome of dependence on glucocorticoids can be considered.
